Albeit warm, August typically is a month with good weather for outdoor activities, exploration, and summer festivals. Here are my 25 picks for where to travel in August.

  • August is a good time for sunbathing in Anguilla due to the heat and dry weather. Swimming is also ideal as the water is warm. Hotel prices may decrease at this time making it a more attractive time to visit.

  • The warmest time of the year to visit Sofia is in August. It’s the last month of summer, so it will be warm and dry. You’ll get the most out of daytime activities this time of year as August is when Sofia sees its longest days of the year.

Though technically not in Burlington, I had to include this adults-only resort on this recommendation of where to stay. Twin Farms is a sophisticated, all-inclusive hotel inside a 1795 farmhouse. Lavish rooms feature Japanese, Tuscan, and Moroccan decor as well as sitting areas with fireplaces. Suites and cottages feature stone hot tubs. Onsite amenities include a spa with glass brick steam rooms, a fitness center, and tennis courts. Children ages 16 and up are permitted.
